With a controlled environment to study both innovation behavior and innovation rate, Auersberg created the “Innovation Arena,” (IA) a semicircle of 20 different challenges all baited with a preferred food reward. Tool-use was just the start of the Silicon Valley careers of Figaro and his friends, as Auersberg has more recently been comparing their intelligence to those of cockatoos that have spent, unlike Figaro, only a short time in captivity. In a moonshot, Auersperg also gave them beeswax, which none of the four birds could manage to work with. Kiwi managed both the larch wood and the twig-trimming, but failed with the cardboard, which researchers predicted would be the hardest task. Demonstrations by Figaro included trimming the branches off a twig, splitting a thin board of larch wood, and even using his beak like a scissor to painstakingly bite cardboard into a long enough tool.įigaro’s best pupil was Dolittle, who mastered the twig-trimming, cardboard-cutting, and larch-woodworking, while Pipin only managed the twig, having some kind of phobia towards larch wood. “Subjects observing demonstrations showed greater tool-related performance than ghost controls, with all three males in this group… acquiring tool-using competence.” “Twelve Goffin’s saw either demonstrations by Figaro, or ‘ghost’ controls where tools and/or food were manipulated using magnets,” writes Auersperg, in the corresponding research paper. Goffin Lab, University of Veterinary Medicine Viennaįigaro shares the lab with 15 other cockatoos, none of whom are wing clipped, and all of whom participate in trials voluntarily, with the option of simply flying away always available. Auersperg wanted to see if Figaro could impart this self-generated wisdom onto his peers. Fewer confusions between morning and evening e.g.To write shop opening hours until midnight use, for example, "00:00–24:00", "07:00–24:00".Īdvantages over the 12-hour clock system: For example, a train due to arrive at a station during the last minute of a day arrives at 24:00 but trains which depart during the first minute of the day go at 00:00. In railway timetables 24:00 means the end of the day. Many models of digital wristwatches and clocks are available that display the time of day using the 24-hour clock. The clock starts at 00:00 (that is, midnight) and it indicates the hours that have passed since then (that is, from 0 to 24). In many Asian, European and Latin American countries people use it to write the time. The 24-hour clock is a convention of keeping time where the day typically runs from midnight midnight and it’s divided into twenty-four hours. However, the US military prefers not to say 24:00 - they do not like to have two names for the same thing, so they always say "23:59", which is one minute before midnight.Ģ4-hour clock time is used in computers, military, public safety, and transport. For example, you would say "Tuesday at 24:00" and "Wednesday at 00:00" to mean exactly the same time. All digital clock should have 2 parts an hour. If it is a 12-hour format clock, then the time is specified along with AM and PM to describe the time of the day. Most digital clocks displays the time in 24-hour format while other digital clocks display time in 12-hour format. Midnight is called 24:00 and is used to mean the end of the day and 00:00 is used to mean the beginning of the day. A digital clock is a clock which displays time in numbers (1,2,3.). Under the 24-hour clock system, the day begins at midnight, 00:00, and the last minute of the day begins at 23:59 and ends at 24:00, which is identical to 00:00 of the following day. Numbers under 10 usually have a zero in front (called a leading zero) e.g. Also, the international standard notation of time ( ISO 8601) is based on this format.Ī time in the 24-hour clock is written in the form hours:minutes (for example, 01:23), or hours:minutes:seconds (01:23:45). In some parts of the world, it is called railway time. This system is also referred to (only in the US and the English speaking parts of Canada) as military time or (only in the United Kingdom and now very rarely) as continental time. For instance, if you want to convert 2:30 pm to military time, you should add 12 to the hour portion, resulting in 14:30 hours. The 24-hour clock is a way of telling the time in which the day runs from midnight to midnight and is divided into 24 hours, numbered from 0 to 24. If the time is in the PM, instead of subtracting 12 hours from the hour portion of the time, you should add 12 to the hour portion of the time. Again, the exception is 12:00 AM, which is displayed as 00:00 in military time. If the time is in the AM, you should remove the “AM” portion and add a leading zero to any single-digit hours (e.g., 08:00 for 8:00 AM). The exception is 12:00 AM, which is displayed as 00:00 in the 24-hour time format How To Manually Convert a 12-Hour Format to Military TimeĬonverting regular time to military time is also a simple process. This would contrast with if you were to get in an accident with an uninspected car. You will have done your due diligence to show that your car didn’t have any issues you knew about. If you do get in an accident and need to file a claim, the fact that you had regular auto inspections will help you significantly. The insurance company is less likely to have to make a payout if your vehicle is safe, so that you may be eligible for a discount. That is because insurance companies recognize that well-maintained cars are safer. You may not realize it, but regular auto inspections can help you reduce your insurance costs. You can even show your maintenance and inspection records to a potential buyer as proof to boost its value. That is because your auto’s condition is a major factor affecting its resale value, and a well-maintained vehicle will be in better condition. Yet another way that auto inspections save you money is by improving the resale value of your car. It should go without saying that improved efficiency saves you money on fuel. That is because inspections will spot problems that may be preventing this, letting you repair your car. Inspections also help your car run at its peak efficiency. ![]() Not all of the savings from auto inspections relate to maintenance. (Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly and SmugMug sharing were already built in.) Amateur videographers will also enjoy a series of new Hollywood-inspired filters, including Red Noir, a "Sin City"-esque effect with red accents, and "Pandora," which is meant to evoke "Avatar." Finally, you can use Time Remapping and Reverse Time to speed up footage or slow it down, respectively.įans of the software will notice the pricing hasn't changed: the two apps cost $100 each, or $150 as a bundle. You can also for the first time view by event, or by the names of people tagged in photos.Īs for new features, Photoshop Elements is getting a series of new comic-inspired filters, including "Pen and Ink," "Graphic Novel" and, yes, "Comic." Photoshop Elements now allows European customers to upload photos to Cewe, while Premiere Elements supports Vimeo uploads. The organizer also now has Google Maps integration, so you can view your shots on a map. Also, both pieces of software ship with a re-tooled image organizer that puts commonly used functions front and center, with lesser-used features like keyword tagging hidden in the menus. Things like preview thumbnails have been brought to the forefront so that they're easier to find. Both have a more readable UI, for instance, as opposed to the old theme with the dark background and low-contrast icons. The company just introduced Photoshop and Premiere Elements 11, and while the two apps include a handful of new photo- and video-editing features, the bigger story is that they're designed to be less intimidating to newbies. The fixed, default behaviour is thoughtfully designed but it's not suitable for every occasion.Earlier this year Adobe announced Photoshop CS6 with a new user interface, and now Elements, its line of beginner-level products, is getting a facelift too. Our biggest disappointment is that there are still no proper ripple editing options. While various other editors automatically apply a dissolve transition when two clips are overlapped, doing this here chops the overlapped clip in half, which has no practical use that we can think of. Holding down Alt and moving the mouse scroll wheel performs this task but it's hopelessly unwieldy, and the on-screen zoom control is a little fiddly too. Timeline navigation is now extremely responsive, but we'd like a better system for zooming in and out. Some of the effects can be fiddly to use, with parameters arranged as a long list of sliders and useful values bunched in the middle of the range. The Project Assets window can be pinned so it stays open, but it needlessly obscures the preview window when the Adjustments panel is open too. Effect settings appear in a panel to the right of the preview, and an extended set of colour-correction filters are permanently plumbed in and ready to use. ![]() Cryptic icons and tabbed panels are out in favour of direct access to key functions such as effects and transitions. The interface has had a thorough redesign and looks much cleaner and more inviting than before. ![]() There's no more frame-rate mishandling or sluggish controls, and preview performance is superb, with smooth playback of 10 AVCHD streams in our tests. Version 11 addresses these concerns head on. As Adobe catered the editor increasingly towards casual users, it seemed to be losing sight of what this editor does best. However, Premiere Elements has been held back by a clunky, unresponsive interface and poor attention to detail, including dropped and repeated frames in previews and exports. Sophisticated multi-layered animations are what this editor does best 9/26/2023 0 Comments Push to talk button sea of thieves![]() This does override all other software like TeamSpeak, Discord, Mumble. There is a free solution for the PC users though: MicMute (it mutes/enables or adjusts the volume of the mic globally via keyboard shortcuts, overriding the Xbox App) I'm playing on a Gaming Notebook which doesn't have a mute button for the mic and generally like to not use a headset and also like to set up different Push-To-Talk Shortcuts for TeamSpeak, InGame Voice Chat, Discord. The Microsoft Xbox App doesn't even provide an option to enable Push-To-Talk on the PC which is a fundamental failure and the reason I don't ever join Xbox Chats. But my guess is this isn't something Rare is even aware of and/or going to address so it'll looking like voice activation on only and always on game chat. Nobody wants to hear themselves twice because they wanna use a discord alongside gamechat. I would like to play with my controller and be able to use push to talk and keybind my controller button functions (so i can set a push to talk). Simply overlooked I hope they don't forget about this though. That or most people sit in party chat (atleast my friends and i did back in the Xbox 360 days when i played consoles) Yeah on xbox they got like a mute button where the mic connects to controller. I was simply muting myself on windows level instead, to avoid playing with voice activation while on controller, but it is quite bothersome for now. Not sure how does this work for xbox though.? Can you turn voice off there at all?. So yes, if you use controller on PC, you have no way to turn push to talk on or the actually voice off. As soon as it's on, voice activation is on, even though the menu does not indicate it. S**t just letting us designate which buttons did what function would work as i could keybind it to the back paddle on the Elite said in Push-to-talk on PTT works on PC till you actually connect a controller. ![]() Unless I go all the way out of my way and take my hand off controller and have keyboard sitting next to me ready to press the PTT key just to say something.Ĭlicking left/right on dpad or holding it would work. I use Discord to talk with my crew but if we're only 3 of the 4 on our ship and wanna talk to the 4th random or just wanna talk to enemies i cant now because I'm choosing to use a controller. ![]() Using a service like Discord you dont want it off push to talk because you'll hear yourself twice. I wanna enable Pushtotalk for in game chat so if the game let me designate a button to that PTT function on the controller setup then i could still activate/deactivate it on the fly when i need to talk to someone in game. I still use my PC for all it's benefits like Discord chat and that. I play this game with my Elite because i prefer a controller on casual games like this but What about those of us on PC that still wanna use an Xbox One Controller? I just want them to implement/correct it when they get to the audio shape-up in development. I mean it is really fine, I don't need an immediate fix, I can wait. I prefer ingame chat over others, for the fun of it. Using Discord or TS is fun, but people who is not in the crew can't hear those individuals then and that takes off from the game in my opinion. My current headphones have a very laggy mute button, it's really old one, so I will pass on that, thanks for the tip though. Un-mute when you want to talk.Īlso, PC has the advantage of not having to use XBL for voice chat. Please give us a button on the controller too. I would also like this feature, simply because on PC, using the xbox controller forces voice activation, even though the menu says I am on push-to-talk still. Said in Push-to-talk on Good to know, that at least some XBOX players want PTT as well. 9/26/2023 0 Comments Hero siege season 14The easiest way to level after that is to just play the game from normal mode to nightmare mode, doing all the levels and beating each difficulty, which means that you have to beat the final boss of act 6, which is Satan, in order to progress into nightmare. To be able to teleport to any zone in Hero Siege, you must first find and activate the waypoint in each zone. Going to the zone 1 of act 1 for the first time all you have to do is find the other portal to the next zone, optionally the waypoint as well. When you enter the portal to town, talk to all of the NPCs in town to see if they can give you a few quests. Read the signs that you find here and kill all the mobs, this will bring you a level or two. When you first start the game, you’ll be placed in the tutorial zone. Compared to previous versions of the game, leveling has actually been improved a lot and no longer requires you to endlessly grind to reach level 100. Leveling in Hero Siege can be both a pain and a pleasure at the same time, depending on how you look at it. It can be a bit difficult to farm relics as they spawn randomly and have no set spawn location. On hit/On attack Relics: These relics are often called proc relics, and they do something special whenever you attack or hit an enemy with an attack. Stat Relics: Stat relics will simply give you some extra bonus stats. When you press the key bound to usable relics, the relic will do something special. ![]() The more relics you have, the less relics you’ll find - and once you’ve hit the limit, you will no longer find relics, and rewards that previously would be relics will now be gold instead.Īctive/Usable Relics: You can only have one of these relics active at a time, and they’ll appear under your health bar next to the potion button in the HUD. Upon collecting a relic, depending on what kind of relic it is, it’s stored in your relic inventory - which holds a maximum of 32 relics. You lose all of your relics when you die. Relics are items that can be found randomly in the world, dropped from chests, bosses or crafted in town. This means that you do not lose your character or progress when you die (unless you’re playing in Hardcore mode). Hero Siege does not have many roguelike elements to it, in fact it only has two - relics. In other words, Hero Siege is like a mix between Diablo, Path of Exile and Bindings of Isaac. Everything that is needed to reach end-game can be farmed. It has an active economy where you can trade with other people.Hero Siege only costs 6.99 euros, and it often goes on a 75-90% sale on Steam. It’s cheap - actually much cheaper than other similar titles which goes for over 20 euros each. The game is being developed by the studio Panic Art Studios (PAS for short), and the game has 2 main developers, Elias and Jussi, as well as other staff, all active on the community discord. ![]() There is two roguelike element in the game - relics - but these are optional for gameplay. It is not built around roguelike elements. How is Hero Siege different from other similar titles? The main goal of your gameplay is about leveling up your class to the max level (which is 100) and obtain gear, which you can later on upgrade to do wormholes (which is the end game) - but we’re gonna cover that in a bit, so don’t worry if it sounds confusing. Hero Siege is a pixel ARPG and compared to other similar titles on the market, it’s truly one of it’s kind. While you’re getting more and more familiar with the game, you might need to ask a question or two about the game, and although you could simply Google it - it’s not recommended. If you’re coming back from a long break, or if this is the first time you’re playing Hero Siege, it’s important to know that the 3.0 update is a total rewrite of the game, with features that did not exist in older versions. 18.2 Leaderboards (Seasonal Characters only). 9/26/2023 0 Comments Codelink v2Some missions require the use of the server scanner, but a resourceful agent can use the scanner to determine the types of security that will need to be defeated before attempting new mission types. The scanner can be used without alerting the security on the server or starting a passive trace. The earlier is often unneeded until the late game, when you have enough plugin slots for it, and the latter is entirely useless as long as you keep the mission log open. The Server Scan program will allow you to search a server and find files. Another factor to check before you buy your cat-eye sunglasses is the level of visible light transmission (VLT).They provide good depth perception and enhance contrast. Lighter tints, such as yellow, gold, amber and rose, are better for low-level light conditions. Keep in mind that brown lenses may distort some colors.
